The fourth project in the batch for Onward Homes will see a further 28 units delivered
by the end of the year, providing much-needed affordable housing in the area – as
identified in Wirral Council’s Housing Strategy for 2020.

Following demolition of The Dell – an abandoned public house in Prenton, Birkenhead
– the Crossfield Living team have been constructing 2-bed apartments across four
storeys. Each of the homes has its own dedicated parking space and seven have been
designed to meet the needs of the elderly and people with mobility issues, with level
access throughout and walk-in shower facilities.

Due to the site’s location in a residential area, stakeholder engagement has
been integral to the project’s success. Local people were initially opposed to the
development, but the team have built a strong rapport with neighbours, resulting in
their full support and an ongoing relationship with the Prenton Tenants’ and Residents’
Association, who were given the opportunity to choose the final name for the completed
building.
