Prenton Dell, Birkenhead

Value: £2.8mArchitects: Paddock Johnson Architects

Our partnership with Registered Social Landlord, Onward Homes, will see a further 28 affordable homes delivered in Merseyside by the end of 2020.

Groundbreaking on the £2.8m scheme took place in July 2019 on Preton Dell Road, where Crossfield Living will create 28 new two-bedroom apartments for local people.

Each apartment has its own dedicated parking space and seven homes have been designed to meet the needs of elderly people and those with mobility issues, providing level access throughout and walk-in shower facilities. Every property will be managed by a dedicated Safer Neighbourhoods Team and there will be stringent tenancy agreements in place.

The development is due for completion in December and will provide much-needed affordable housing on the peninsula, as identified in Wirral Borough Council’s Housing Strategy for 2020. Following the demolition of The Dell – an abandoned public house in Birkenhead – the housing project will also help to drive economic growth and job creation in the area.
