The Crossfield Construction team is currently on site in Preston City Centre, creating a dedicated space for one of the highest-performing Sixth Form Colleges in Lancashire to run their T Levels courses.
Adjacent to the existing college campus of 2000 students, the three-storey Education scheme has posed many logistical challenges. The site is also located in a residential area and is surrounded by housing on all sides, meaning stakeholder engagement and public safety have been critical in the successful running of the project.
The technical-based T Levels qualifications in Education, Childcare and Digital will feature industry placements as well as classroom learning, preparing students for the world of work with hands on learning.
Crossfield secured the project through the Procure Partnerships Framework, and the consultant team includes Ellis Williams Architects, AJP Consulting Engineers, Quantity Surveyors Appleyard & Trew and Construction Consultancy Ridge & Partners.
“The project will provide a boost to the local area and the city’s economy. We have committed to drawing our supply chain from a 30-mile radius, as well as working with the college to offer a degree apprenticeship, industrial placements and mentoring initiatives – benefitting many students.”
