Buckland Street, Aigburth

Value: £1.2mArchitects: Wroot Design

We are working with Onward Homes to create 12 apartments on what was formerly a derelict site on Buckland Street in Aigburth, Liverpool.

As with many parts of the UK, there is a need for affordable homes in the city and this project will increase the number of high quality dwellings available to local people.

Liverpool-based architects, Wroot Design were appointed to create the plans for the £1.2m project and works have been delivered by Crossfield Living, a division of Crossfield Group that specialisies in building quality homes for both the public and private sectors. Shape Engineering carried out structural and civil engineering on the project.

The scheme is one of four that we are delivering in partnership with Onward. Together they will bring 65 affordable homes to the market across the North West, in a project worth a total of £6.2m.

As well as delivering excellent homes, we aim to deliver additional benefits for those who live and work near our sites, and we are pleased to have been able to employ a local labourer and work with a nearby plastering company.

We are members of the Considerate Constructors scheme and as part of this the initiative’s mascot Ivor Goodsite joined members of our team to speak to pupils at Matthew Arnold Primary School about the importance of keeping themselves safe by staying away from building sites.

A group of Year 11 students have also been to the site to learn more about careers in the construction industry in a visit organised by Liverpool-based charity Everton in the Community.

The scheme is due for completion in March 2020.
